The Smart City of the future features all energy modalities grouped into one overall energy planning framework. Smart grid technologies enable energy and city planners to undertake energy efficiency initiatives alongside a thorough balancing of the overall energy grid. Smart City is seen as the key to ensuring fulfillment of EU 2020 targets.
Kalundborg Municipality and Spirae wish to further their relationship by creating a joint collaboration to develop Kalundborg's Strategic Energy Plan. This collaboration leverages Spirae’s contributions as one of several tools that shall support Kalundborg’s effort of becoming a 'Smart City', where a modernized power grid delivers electricity from power generators to consumers using digital technology (smart grid) and where integration of renewable energy sourcers (wind, solar, biomass etc.) can be conducted with a high level of safety and in accordance with longterm planning (strategic energy plan).
